The SM Supermalls in partnership with the Mathematics Trainer’s Guild- Philippines (MTG) will serves as the venue for the upcoming 13th Philippines Super Sudoku Challenge (PSSC), MTG-SM-DepEd Family Math Quest, The National Mathematical Olympiad for Senior High School, The 2018 MTG-SM-SHARP-DepEd Math Trail and Problem Solving Competitions, and The 2019 Asia Sudoku Championship.
SM Supermalls representative Millie Dizon who works at the company holds the position of being a senior vice president for marketing. Dizon signed an agreement with the President of the Mathematics Trainer’s Guild- Philippines (MTG) Dr. Isidro Aguillar. that the venue for the 13th Philippines Super Sudoku Challenge (PSSC), MTG-SM-DepEd Family Math Quest, National Mathematical Olympiad for Senior High School, 2018 MTG-SM-SHARP-DepEd Math Trail and Problem Solving Competitions and 2019 Asia Sudoku Championship would be in the selected SM Supermalls.
Under the memorandum of agreement that was signed on May 30, the SM Supermalls shall be the exclusive sponsor of the said event and shall have the authority to host the five math contests here in the Philippines. The recent 2018 Asia Sudoku Championship was held in the Jeju Island in South Korea.
The 2019 Asia Sudoku Championship shall be held on the 25th and 26th of January 2019 at SM Supermalls in Cagayan de Oro, Dasmarinas (Cavite), Cebu, Pampanga, Iloilo, Lucena, Baliwag, Bacolod, Lipa (Batangas), Rosales (Pangasinan), Tarlac, Davao, Naga, Olongapo and Marikina while the national finals will be set on the 24th of November 2019.
According to Millie Dizon, by hosting these events, they are pursuing their advocacy to try and reach out to people by proving that the SM Supermalls is not just about commercials but they also support groups that promotes the betterment of the citizens. She also added that they are looking forward to the international Sudoku contest after being they are amazed by seeing how the children and parents bond together to make this event possible in Iloilo. She claimed that this event is something that people should look forward to as well especially in this time of our country.
